Hyacinth Maccaw

Hyacinth Maccaw
Edward Lear may be better known now for his nonsense verse and limericks which often feature animals. However he began his career as a zoological illustrator studying and illustrating parrots from London Zoo. It was Lear's paintings of parrots that established his reputation as one of the best natural history artists of his time. Even the young Queen Victoria employed him to help her with her painting techniques.
We have taken one of his stunning plates, of a Hyacinth Maccaw and given it a mustard backdrop in this print. Fitting for a bedroom, living room or conservatory.
