Paulownias and Chrysanthemums

£700.00

Japan, Edo Period

Paulownias and Chrysanthemums was painted by Sakai Hoitsu on a two-panel folding screens. Hoitsu has used a painting technique called “dripping-in” when Ink and colour are dripped on the surface and allowed to pool there, creating a illusion of lichen covered bark and movement in the chrysanthemum leaves.

We have made this screen print into a polyptych printing a large amount of poisitivity to any room as the Paulownia represents fortitude and chrysanthemums symbolises good government.

Approximate size of the piece of art when hung:

w: 130cm x h: 118cm.

We have selected a textured gilt frame for this print. Please contact us if you would prefer one of our other frames.
